| The Somerset town of Taunton is renowned for its association with a range of sports, particularly cricket and horse racing, but it has also had at least 2 greyhound tracks in the past. The second track in the area was located at 3° 6' W 51° 1' N around the perimeter of the County Ground, more famous as a cricket venue. The independently run track held its first meeting on 8th December 1961 and operated for just short of 20 years. It finally closed its gates to greyhound racing on 3rd May 1979. |
